Welcome James Kenworthy

It gives us pleasure to announce James Kenworthy as our senior coach for the remainder of the 2022 season. James had returned to Surrey Park at the beginning of 2022 from Blackburn Football Club, joining Surrey as a key playing recruit and Assistant Coach for the season. He has helped to drive improvement in our playing culture, bringing the wealth of his 12 years experience at a premier club to the practices we're implementing at Surrey. In his role James will also continue to be supported by Clint Sims, our Senior Reserves coach who is doing a terrific job of driving great results with the Reserves team, and Hamish Burrill, who has also stepped up as an Assistant Coach in 2022. We look forward to watching all of them coach the playing group over coming weeks and wish them the best of luck as we continue to drive to make finals in 2022.

James may not be that well known to many of you so here's a little background for you to help to get to know our senior coach. James actually started his journey with the Surrey Hill Auskick in 1997, joined tackers in 1999 and then played with Surrey Park Juniors until he transferred across to Blackburn Football Club in 2009. He enjoyed some immediate success at Blackburn, playing in a preliminary final his first year and then in an U19's winning grand final in 2010. He then went on to play senior footy until he undertook the mandatory 'Aussie sabbatical to Europe' and continued to play football in England, playing in a premiership with the Manchester Mosquitoes in 2014. He returned to Australia in 2016 and started back with Blackburn and has played his senior football there until he joined the Panthers for 2022.

Please join us in welcoming James to the role of Senior Coach at Surrey and we look forward to an enjoyable journey with James and the playing group over the coming weeks.
