Welcome our Under 19’s Coach - Chris Day

As you would all know, we weren't able to field a Men's U19's team in 2022 owing to a range of circumstances.
As it turned out this was in some ways a blessing in disguise, as we were able to see see several of the potential U19's list players not only play in the senior team, but also end up thriving in the senior environment given this opportunity, including:

  • 2022 Surrey Park Football Club (and EFNL Division 4) Men’s Senior Best & Fairest Tom Smith

  • 2022 Men’s Senior Leading Goal Kicker Nick Kann

  • Key Forward Renan Falahey

Whilst It was never the clubs’ intention to run the senior club longer-term without the U19's team,
we're pleased to report that we're committed to having a team in place in 2023.

On that note, it also gives us great pleasure to confirm Chris Day as the U19's coach for 2023.

Chris "Daisy" Day
Surrey Park Football Club - Under 19’s Coach

'Daisy' is well known to many of you around the club from his involvement through his junior coaching years, and outside of that his relationship with the senior club goes back to the 90's where he played in the last Division 1 premiership for Surrey Hill Football Club in 1992.

Chris has coached for over 11 years with the majority as part of the junior club at Surrey, a short stint at Balwyn where he set up their U19 program in 2017, and having most recently coached the Colts team in 2022 (who were voted YJFL team of the year in 2022).

He's taken teams to five Grand Finals - with one in the bag - and we know he's happy to continue that trend in 2023.

Welcome back to the senior club Chris and welcome to all of the junior Colts players who will also join us in 2023.... we can't wait to see the U19's team thrive again.
